Winter can provide a unique challenge to your vehicle. Therefore, many critical parts of your vehicle must be ready for the coldest temperatures of the year. Here are nine ways to prepare your vehicle for the winter season.
Check Your Tires and Change to Snow Tires If Driving North – The winter is an excellent time to check your vehicle’s tires for tread wear as well as pressure levels. If you are planning to take a trip north, we highly recommend switching to winter tires for better traction.
Check Brakes – Be sure to check your vehicle’s brakes. If you notice that the braking distance on your vehicle is longer than usual, then be sure to visit our service center right away.
Battery Test & Inspection – Make sure that your battery is in top condition for the winter season. Check your battery and battery connectors for any signs of corrosion. Corrosion will appear as green or orange stains. Also, check to see if your vehicle’s lights are shining at the proper levels. Dim lights are a sign of an older battery.
Change Washer Fluid to Winter Blend – You will also want to check your vehicle’s washer fluid to a winter blend. This will prevent the washer fluid from freezing in cold weather.
Inspect Your Vehicle Wiper Blades – This is also an excellent time to inspect your vehicle’s wiper blades. Be sure to check for bent frames, peeling rubber, and worn rubber. Also, if your wipers leave streaks or make a squealing noise while in operation, then they should be replaced.
